This new combined honours degree is ideal for students interested in a career as an English teacher. Working in collaboration with the highly regarded Department of English, we have developed an outstanding combined honours degree. The programme will provide you with the English subject knowledge required to apply to a Secondary or Middle Years PGCE English teacher training course. In addition, you will simultaneously gain valuable Education Studies subject knowledge, learning about the significant developments in Education and how students learn both in and out of the classroom – a strong advantage in preparing you for the demands of a PGCE training course. Students on course for a 2.1 or better will be guaranteed an interview with our own PGCE English programmes.

- Students will choose two optional modules. One must be concerned with the period pre-1800 and one must be concerned with the period post-1800.
