Studying with Us
Distance learning offers you the convenience of studying at a time and place that suits you. Lectures are moved out of the classroom and delivered directly to you via the Internet or postal study packs. Special attention and care has been taken to ensure our distance learning programmes are delivered in an innovative, stimulating and enjoyable manner.
We are still accepting students on the non credit bearing programme but no longer taking registrations for the undergraduate accredited modules.
Support for your studies is an important part of our programme. A personal computer (PC or Mac) with Internet connection will provide access to courses and will enable you to communicate by email with your fellow students as well as the tutor. Students on accredited modules will also be able to access to the University Library and online journals.
If you do not have a computer of your own, you may still access the online material via a local library or computing centre, many of which are happy to provide support if you have never used or considered using a computer before. The Internet provides a huge resource for researching elements of all the modules on offer.
If you have a computer but are not online, the Department can advise you on how to connect to the Internet. In addition, students on accredited modules will be able to use the University as their Internet service provider. This is a free service which allows you to access the Internet, provides you with an email address and other facilities available through the University network. You only pay for the cost of the telephone call.
From this year, postal delivery of course materials is available only to students who already receive their materials in this way.
