International Students
The Department of Lifelong Learning welcomes international students and believes in the value gained by having a diverse student body. Our fully online, distance learning, part-time modules are ideal for students studying abroad, or for those who may be in the UK on a temporary basis.
We offer a wide range of modules and subject areas allowing you the flexibility to design your own course of study, follow an award programme, or simply enrol for an individual module. Our modules also provide an ideal taster course whereby you enrol for a module to see what university level study in the UK is like before committing yourself to a more intensive course of study.
As with all of our distance learning students, you will be provided with a range of support from our highly qualified tutors via email and discussion forums. If you are interested in pursuing an award or degree you will also receive support and guidance helping you to plan your studies and explain the many options available to you. Unfortunately, if you are living outside the UK you cannot borrow books through our library postal loan service (except Eire), but you will still have access to resources that can be borrowed or accessed online.
Entry Requirements
The Department has no entry requirements for non-accredited courses or Level 1 modules. As part of our widening participation goals, we are committed to an open enrolment policy. Accreditation for prior learning may also be awarded to students from outside the UK. Students may need to comply with the University’s English Language proficiency requirements, which can be viewed at the International Office Website:

Fees
Fees for students outside the UK or EU will generally be twice the standard fee as explained on the Fees and Finances page. The subsidies provided for EU residents unfortunately do not apply worldwide. UK and EU residents working abroad may be eligible for the standard non-international fees as long as the residency requirements are met. Please contact the Department for further information.
The Education (Fees & Awards) Regulations 1997 enable universities to determine the fees status of students. The University of Exeter will consider each case on its own merits. However, as a general guide, applicants who lived outside the European Economic Area during the 3-year period preceding the start of their course regardless of nationality, will be assessed at the international fee rate.
International fees will also apply to applicants who are living in the European Economic Area wholly or mainly for the purposes of receiving full time education. This does not apply to the non-accredited course fees which have one fee for all students, wherever they are located.
Please note that all fees must be paid in pounds sterling (£) and not in any other currency.
