Student Support
We understand that many of our students have been away from formal education for some time. Higher education is challenging, and should be challenging. This is why we are dedicated to offering outstanding student support to make the return to education a positive and rewarding experience.
Students with the Department of Lifelong Learning have access to the University’s dedicated Student Support Service, which is sensitive to the issues affecting mature-age, part-time students. The University’s study skills advisors are available to assist and provide services such as:
Help with assignments
The Student Support Service can provide advice on preparing and structuring assignments including: critical analysis, use of grammar and language, sentence structure and paragraph construction, repetition and other useful feedback. The team will work individually with students on specific issues or difficulties they are facing.
Study Skills Workshops
Study Skills workshops are available on a number of pertinent topics such as:
- Time Organisation
- Assignment planning and writing
- Reading and note-making
Study Guides
Study skills guides are available providing advice on study skills such as time organisation, assignment writing, reading and note-making.
Distance Learning Support
Student support isn’t limited to just those students in the Exeter area. We realise that many of our students are from around the country and the world. The Student Support Service offers online support and study skills advice, and can offer telephone tutorials by arrangement.
