The Partnership Office
The Partnership Office deals with all sorts of work related to ITE and the partnerships between the Graduate School of Education and schools.
In partnership schools, class tutors, mentors and initial teacher training coordinators receive very well designed training which is specific to their roles. Consequently, trainees are exceptionally well supported on their placements.” (Primary Ofsted report November 2006)
Some of the things it does include:
- It places all trainee teachers for their school-based work in partner schools throughout the South West (and, for a limited number of placements,Southwark, London).
- It deals with administration for PGCE and undergraduate courses.
- It supports school and university staff in the training of PGCE trainees
- It supports the Ed Studies and CaYS undergraduate courses and work related placements
- It works (with the Graduate Studies team) to provide Continuing Professional Development for Education professionals offering various routes in to M level qualifications and beyond

The Partnership Team
Jocelyn Sumner is the Partnership Director and is responsible for overseeing the partnerships with schools. She is responsible for the formation and quality of the partnerships, the provision of the induction and support of mentors and for the assessment and moderation of trainees. Assisting her in this provision are:
Lynda King is the Primary Partnership Coordinator and Rachel Ware is the Secondary Partnership Coordinator. They place trainees into partnership schools; support teachers through an extensive programme of partnership induction and ongoing support; deal with trainees' questions and concerns about school-based work, and they are also responsible for supporting University Visiting Tutors when they undertake their visits to trainees in schools.
Lisa Fripp is the ITE Administrator. She is responsible for a huge variety of issues including quality assurance, examination boards, course documentation, registration and Ofsted.
Emma Jones is the Partnership Team leader and allocates and oversees the work of the Partnership Office secretaries. Emma is responsible for the SAS programme administration and she deals with secondary school based work queries and with the external examination process. Emma is also involved with the monitoring and implementation of the Partner Induction and Support Programme.
Helen Booker works mainly with Primary Schools, dealing with administrative contact with partner schools. This includes bookings for induction and support, trainee assessment processes, school packs and the associated returned information and database information updates.
Debbie Mitchell works mainly with Secondary Schools, dealing with administrative contact with partner schools. This includes bookings for induction and support, trainee assessment processes, school packs and the associated returned information and database information updates.
