I enjoyed working with children as a sports coach and have always been interested in the psychology behind learning, so this degree was made for me. I also wanted to study at a campus university and Exeter’s campus was the best of all the ones I visited. Seminar discussions here are very stimulating – the lecturers are all experts in their fields, but they accept that there are other opinions and that there might even be a better one than they put forward, which is very different to my experience in a sixth form college. I hope to work as a commercial pilot. What’s that to do with my degree? Eventually I want to be a training captain and I think my knowledge of how people learn will be an advantage.” Chris Gilbert
Changes in the nature of professional work with children and young people are creating a number of new and interesting career opportunities. These will appeal to those who intend to work with children and/or young people in occupations such as social work, child care, youth and community work, museum and gallery education, the probation service, the police force, research and policy development.
Graduate Studies within the Graduate School of Education provide opportunities for graduates to take Masters and Research degrees at Exeter. Support is given to suitable undergraduates from the second year for those wishing to follow this route.
