Community Identities - Marginalisation Network
Co-ordinator: Martin Levinson
The Social / Community Identities network has an interest in wider identities, in minority and marginal groups, and generally, in the interface between education, culture and identity. It engages with concepts from across disciplines, seeking to foster intellectual reflection that will enhance understandings within our own research areas. It is intended as an unthreatening environment, in which people can test out their own theories, introduce ideas from completely different fields, or challenge views that have become embedded within our own discipline.
Apart from enriching individual research, through, e.g. consideration of papers from different fields; input from external speakers, etc., it is also hoped that the network will help foster relationships that might lead to collaborative activity between network members, where appropriate
In effect, the network will provide for different needs. For at least one member, its main purpose is as a Postmodern Belgian Biscuit Appreciation Society.
