Living with Difference - Reading Group
Co-ordinators: Robert Lawy & Deborah Osberg
The aim of this group is to provide a platform for discussion about contemporary and theoretical issues related to the research interests of the group. People working in social constructionist, postconstructionist, pragmatist, deconstructionist and Marxist frames might be interested.
- dealing with difference in culture (issues around exclusion, inclusion, othering, democracy – how does one accommodate cultural difference?)
- understanding identity in terms of difference rather than sameness
- dealing with difference in epistemology (the problem of epistemological relativism (or truth) and how to solve it, and what this means for research.
The idea will be to frame our reading around these and other related concerns.
