Based on the University’s St Luke’s campus, we have been providing teacher training courses for over 150 years. Through outstanding Ofsted and TDA ratings, we are recognised as one of the top initial teacher training providers.

Masters Credits

Did you know that 60 credits of your PGCE progamme are at Masters level? That's 1/3 of a Masters degree. To find out how you can use your PGCE training to gain a Masters, read about our credit for prior learning.

Canadian PGCE

The University of Exeter offers a 1 year UK based PGCE for Canadian Students qualifying them to teach in High School classrooms.

SEN Personalised Learning Task

The SEN Personalised Learning Task website is designed to support primary and secondary PGCE students across several university programmes during their school placement to carry out the SEN Personalised Learning Task.

Exeter sustains top position in Education

The University of Exeter has been ranked in the top three universities for the quality of its teacher training. The Graduate School of Education has sustained a top position in The Good Teacher Training Guide 2009, a national league table for teacher training.

New Masters in Teaching and Learning (MTL)

Exeter is one of seven Higher Education Institutions in the South West who have formed a partnership called TRANSFORM to deliver the new Government-funded MTL qualification within the South West region.

Men in Primary

Traditionally Primary Schools have a mainly female staff, however this is steadily changing with the number of men taking Post Graduate Certificates of Education (PGCE) in primary education. This year the University of Exeter has recruited more men in primary than ever before.
