I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate working on the Nuffield Foundation project ‘Education pathways for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children’, which examines pathways and barriers to accessing higher education and Level 3+ further education in England. My research strands include refugee education (through a relational, social justice lens, with attention to belonging, safety, and everyday institutional practice), language in education (including how language shapes access and participation), and education in crisis and displacement contexts, with a particular focus on Afghanistan.
I am an early career researcher in the UK, with over a decade of academic and applied experience that began in Afghanistan, including university teaching and work as a consultant, trainer, and researcher with organisations including the British Council and the World Bank Group. As a researcher with lived experience of forced displacement, my work is informed by commitments to relationality, social justice, and accountable research with displaced young people.
