About me:
Before joining the School of Education in 2018, I spent 20 years working as a secondary English teacher (KS3-5) in schools across the Southwest, both in mainstream and alternative provisions. During this time, I taught English language, Literature, and Media Studies. In my current role as a Senior Lecturer of Education, I work primarily on the secondary English PGCE programme, as well as the MA Education Online.
As someone fascinated by language and the construction of meaning, my research links to this specific area of interest. My doctoral research centred on secondary school students' use of grammar and their procedural and declarative metalinguistic knowledge. More recently, I have been interested in disciplinary approaches to writing and academic literacies in Higher Education.
