About the project
The early career development of teachers is of critical importance. Although there have been recent changes in how this is provided, the outcomes for teachers’ developing thinking and practice are ill understood. Through case studies of 12 teachers, informed by Activity Theory, we will investigate teachers' developing thinking and practice during their induction year, relating this to their experience of ITT and their plans for CPD. We will investigate teachers thinking through semi-structured interviews, their practice through classroom video, and explore links between thinking and practice through stimulated recall. A questionnaire to a larger sample will supplement the case studies.
