Overview

My teaching career began when I had the great privilege to study Outdoor Education and Natural History at Antioch University, Ohio, USA.  Here I found my vocation for teaching and learning.  In addition to this, my undergraduate training as a zoologist, led me to become a strong advocate to Outdoor Learning and Learning for Sustainability.  My path led then to Exeter University, where I studied for a Primary Science PGCE, and received the Ted Wragg Award.  My teaching practice in primary schools was highly rewarding, and here I continued my research into Outdoor Learning and the use of technology in schools.

In 2012 I started to teach science on the Primary Science PGCE at Exeter, and now run the Core Science module and lead the Science Specialist Primary PGCE.  Along the way I have taught the Teaching & Learning pathway, and was the academic lead for theTeach First PGCE programme for four years.

My research interests are currently linked with the Climate Crisis; with a project called: Visual art education in new times: Connecting Art with REal life issues (CARE) aimed at enhancing visual arts education (VAE) with education for sustainable development (ESD) within primary education.
