Emeritus Professor Vivienne Baumfield
Emeritus Professor of Professional Learning
Overview
I am Professor of Professional Learning at the School of Education. My research interests are in the interaction of research, policy and practice when university-based researchers work with practitioners in the creation and translation of knowledge across contexts. This interest is linked to the wider issue of understanding the relationship between theory and practice in professional learning and is grounded in a perspective derived from pragmatism. My teaching and research examines international perspectives on the professional development of teachers and the impact of school-university partnerships as communities of pedagogical inquiry.
Qualifications
BA (Hons) Politics and Religious Studies with Sanskrit; PhD in Indian Political Philosophy; Post Graduate Certificate in Education (Credit) History and Religious Studies; Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.
