Ofsted rates Exeter's teacher training as 'outstanding'

The Graduate School of Education is rated as ‘outstanding’ for its provision of both Primary and Secondary Initial Teacher Education (ITE). This rating by the UK Government's 'Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills' (Ofsted), is the highest possible inspection grade and maintains the School's position as a flagship provider of teacher training.

RAE 2008 Results: Top 5 for world-leading research

Research in the Graduate School of Education is ranked as fifth best in the UK. The 2008 Research Assessment Exercise rates 90% of research as of international quality, with 20 per cent being awarded the highest accolade of ‘world leading’ and given 4 stars. Research into global education

Partnerships between the West and developing countries are those where schools in England are being encouraged to link up with partnership schools in Africa, Asia and Latin America as part of a government initiative.The University of Exeter will be examining this initiative by investigating courses for teachers designed to develop their understanding of the potential of global educational partnerships and relations between the two countries concerned.

Science Education under the microscope

A €1 million International Science Education development project is being launched by the University of Exeter’s Graduate School of Education. The project seeks to improve the quality of science education in Europe by collaborating with other countries where science and science careers are perceived by young people as a positive option.
