Overview

I have 17 years of experience as a science teacher and head of department/faculty in several schools in the southwest of England including as a member of middle and senior leadership. I have been a specialist leader of education with designations in science teaching and learning; initiial teacher education and continuing professional education. I also hold the National Professional Qualification for senior leadership. I have contributed a book chapter on practical work in an upcoming publication on teacher education.

Prior to my PGCE at St.Lukes (Exeter), I had a research career in the UK and the USA with over 26 publications in the fields of biological chemistry, biophysics and plant molecular science.

Teaching

I teach on the Secondary science education PGCE programme in the School of Education (HASS). I deliver subject knowledge and pedagogy sessions in physics to trainee teachers in all of the science disciplines and guidance on A-level education to physics specialists.

Part time (0.2 FTE) - September to December -my normal workday is Friday. January to August - flexible.
