School of Education Annual Student/Staff Conference 2025

Oral presentations – as ‘Short Talks’ for 20 minutes (15 minutes presentation and 5 minutes for Q&A) including work-in-progress,
literature review, research findings, tentative findings, theoretical discussions etc.

Workshops - lasting 30 minutes

Poster presentations – in addition to the poster display during the day, there will be an opportunity for presenters to discuss their work with interested participants during the lunch break.

We enthusiastically encourage ALL students to apply, irrespective of what stage you are in or whether you have collected data. The conference serves as a valuable opportunity for our community to come together, meet colleagues, have interesting discussions about research to develop/ hone your skills and showcase your research at whatever stage! 

Keynote Speaker - Helen Knowler

Helen is an Associate Professor, based in UCL's Arena Centre for Research Based Education. She leads the Eugenics Legacy Education Project (ELEP) which focuses on developing the educational outcomes of UCK's Eugenics Inquiry Report, Helen collaborate with a wide range of colleagues in a diverse range of roles to think about how we teach this difficult knowledge.

Her expertise and research interests are closely aligned and broadly relate to Inclusive Education. More recently she has been working on the ways that 'difficult knowledge' is taught in higher education contexts and how this links to inclusion and belonging in teaching and learning spaces. She is interested in the role of reparative approaches to teaching and learning in the context of institutional legacies and histories of harm and develop resources that educators can use in their own classroom.
